Description

Acetylcysteine Injection: Mucorap Injection is administered to treat Paracetamol (acetaminophen) overdose and prevent liver damage. Paracetamol overdose can happen when the individual takes more than 8 Paracetamol tablets within 24 hours, accidentally or when supposed to be for self-inflicted harm.

Mucorap Injection has Acetylcysteine, which acts by protecting the liver from damage caused by excessive paracetamol. It restores the glutathione levels, a chemical that detoxifies.

Injection site reactions, nausea, and vomiting are experienced by some individuals. The side effects are not medically significant and resolve on their own over time. If the side effects do not improve or become severe, however, please refer to your physician.

Medical Benefits:

  • Acetylcysteine is used to break up and liquefy thick, sticky mucus in the lungs, windpipe, and nose, facilitating easy removal by coughing.
  • Through the promotion of mucus clearance, Acetylcysteine alleviates chest congestion and enhances breath comfort.
  • It is effective in treating both short-term (acute) and long-term (chronic) respiratory illnesses related to overproduction of mucus.
  • Acetylcysteine alleviates symptoms of emphysema, including breathing difficulty, through the reduction of mucus blockage in the airways.
  • It is applied in bronchitis (inflammation of the bronchial passages), where it alleviates cough and airway obstruction due to excess mucus.
  • Helps in treating bronchiectasis, a chronic condition with abnormally dilated airways that result in mucus accumulation.

Uses:

  • Acetylcysteine helps break down and thin mucus in the airways, making it easy to cough up and expel. It is particularly useful in conditions such as chronic bronchitis.
  • When production of mucus is a problem, like in asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), it is often used to provide relief for respiratory tract infection symptoms.
  • Acetylcysteine soothes chronic coughs induced by a buildup of mucus by lowering the thickness of mucus.
  • Acetylcysteine can be used to cure sinusitis by making less mucus available in the sinuses, which reduces pressure and increases sinus outflow.
