Description

Doxycyclin Injection: Doxycycline is used to treat bacterial infections. Doxycycline treats urinary tract infections, intestinal infections, respiratory infections, eye infections, sexually transmitted infections (like gonorrhoea and syphilis), gum infections, diseases (like periodontitis), and others. Besides this, Doxycycline also treats acne-like lesions caused by rosacea. However, it does not treat facial redness caused by rosacea.

Doxycycline, being an antibiotic, inhibits the growth of bacterial cells (the bad ones!) by inhibiting the construction of the outer protein covering of bacteria (cell wall) that is responsible for bacterial growth and development. It is a broad-spectrum antibiotic, i.e., it is effective against a number of bacteria. It is a bacteriostatic antibiotic, i.e., it inhibits bacterial growth but doesn’t kill them.

Medical Benefits:

  • Doxycycline belongs to the tetracycline class of antibiotics that is active against a broad spectrum of bacteria, including gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, anaerobes, and certain parasites.
  • It is used for the treatment of infections of the respiratory tract due to a variety of bacteria, genitourinary region (syphilis, gonorrhoea), anthrax infection, sinuses, eyes, and skin.
  • It is also used in tick-borne illnesses (typhus fever) caused by the Rickettsia group of bacteria, such as typhus fever.

Uses:

  • Bacterial Infections: Doxycycline is also prescribed for the treatment of numerous bacterial infections, such as respiratory infections, skin infections, and urinary infections.
